Personally don't waste your time what are the gains going to be? If your worried about heat just spend the extra cash and get them ceramic coated will last longer..And keep the heat down. Exhaust can hold in moisture and cause un-wanted rust seen it cause a hole to form in a set of headers.

all steel rusts. the limiting factor is what type of stainless steel you have (depends on the other metals in the steel). most parts are 304SS and tend to rust with time. by wrapping the pipes with header/exhaust wrap you increase the chances of crevise corrosion (the most evasive type) of occuring. if one area is exposed to more, then you will end up with pits or possibly holes in the piping. if you don't wrap the up pipe, then at most you'll probably have some minor surface rust.
IMO, i would rather get the up pipe ceramic coated as silver satin said earler. it does last longer and works better. as for the down pipe, as long as you don't go crazy with the wrap, it should be ok. just don't wrap the whole pipe, since water can still get to it from under the car (i.e. in heavy rain).
hope this helps!

^^Thanks, how much is it to get an uppipe ceramic coated? I always thought it was real expensive. I think I'll ceramic the uppipe and wrap some of the downpipe, maybe the first 1/2 or 1/3.

Call Hi-Tech coatings can't remember their number they are in the phone book. They also do powder coating they did my wheels. oldmansan had them coat his old DP and header and they came out really good. Ceramic coating will be better in the long run might cost more at first but you get what you pay for.
