Exhaust Issue

All

I have an issue and wondering if you could tell me the problem. The exhaust hangers on my Greddy Evo are breaking off the canister and now the piping. Is that due to the HIGH heat? Do I seriously need to get a accessport or something to adjust the fuel mixture? I haven't been able to research much on my car lately due to the high tempo of life and work. My exhaust will fall off soon and need some help.

Thanks,

Jason

It sounds to me like this is some other issue. If your exhaust had been hot enough to melt exhaust hangers off your A/F ratio would have destroyed your engine by now. I'm located in Alexandria, LA if that's close to you and you need any help but it seems to me that it's probably a result of bad hangers. I strongly advise you to get some kind of a tune, even an off the shelf Cobb tune as soon as possible regardless. If nothing else take it to an exhaust shop to have them reweld your hangers just for the time being.

I heard that the Greddy hanges are junk...they're not stainless I believe. Bleh that might be off topic but I would definitely go to an exhaust shop to get them re-welded. Should cost about $50 I think.

On the Greddy EVO I had a hanger had broken off the can also I had it welded back on and no problems. Are you using the stock rubber hangers or the KartBoy ones? If you are using the KartBoy hangers take them off and put the stock ones on. I got my EVO from vrod and he had the KartBoy hangers and because they are too stiff they do not allow for enough flex in the exhaust and that caused it to break I used stock hangers and never had a problem...

Hey Blake, can you give me a number or location of where they have a good exhaust shop out here? Mine is still 2.25" and I really need to get a 3" made.

My old stuff is wearing out, huh?

SilverSatin is absolutely right. There's some give and take when you decide to use hard compounds to replace soft rubber stuffs. If I remember right, I think Vrod had one of his break off, too.

Soft=add'l vibration transferred to frame of car, so you hear and feel it.
Hard=less vibration because energy from any vibration isn't transferred beyond the hangers on the muffler.

Yea Pat I bought Ed's exhaust and one of the hangers was broken off the muffler he was using polyurthane hangers I had the hanger welded back on used stock hangers and no problems. I would not give ESH any money they are a bunch of crooks..They charge way to much..

^^^Really? Well I've never had problems....I guess any old shop that has a welder and a guy that knows how to use it would be fine.
