Engine Compression
Does anyone know how to do a compression test? As well as have tools to do them. My car idles really bad and i just wanna see if my compression ratios are off. Thanks

There are two ways of doing it.
1. Compression Test
2. Leakdown Test
Both require special tools.
Compression test is a way of measuring engine's compression by cranking it and using a peak-hold gauge.
Leakdown test is a way of measuring engine's MAX compression by manually pressurising the combustion chambers through the sparkplug hole and seeing how much pressure the chamber will hold before it starts to leak.
Both tests are equally important and require special tools.

i think i just need to do a compression test ive been running really rich lately and the idle has been getting alittle sloppy. So i just wanna see if my rings need to be replaced.

If you suspect you're running rich, the first place I'd check is all along your intake tract...paying special attention to your uppipe then to your IC hose connections.
