Ej207 gc questions
So I'm trying to make a decision on what swap to get but I have some questions. I was debating between a v7 and v8, but had came to the concluding that I won't be utilizing the dccd for anything, and I can always got twin scroll later if I wanted to. The swap comes with everything but brembo's, but I already have wrx front 4 pots. Will the 4 pots work with the sti hubs? Or for a grand more should I jus get the damn brembo's and aluminum lca(sooner or later money will be a issue). Also for the gc swapped guys what radiator are u guys using? I've been reading u can use ur stock one and others saying u can't? I would also need a retune for the lower octane would I need to get a standalone ems? Or could I jus do open source? Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

With your radiator issue paired up with your v8 STi swap, iirc, you could use the 91-94 turbo legacy radiator or you could get any year GC STi radiator fan and it will fit perfectly. Or you could order some Koyo slim fans. Also I know they have mishimoto's slim fan with the slim kit thingy. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Thinking about it ur better off getting the brembos and unloading your 4pots. U would end up getting the brembos cheap! Also

the stock radiator will work fine. never had any problems. if you are going ot race id say do a dual core aftermarket for a gc w/ slim fans. but every day driving and some spirited fun stuff stick rs will do fine
you can use sti/ wrx radiator have to trim the fans to fit by the manifold, trim the top rad hose to fit and make your own mount holes for the brackets on the top.
you can tune open source for the lower octane

To be honest I haven't gotten the swap yet. Purchasing something this big and costly I'm trying to make sure I go through someone very reputable. So if anyone knows of a vendor or person please feel free to chime in. I know there's a handful of peeps in hawaii with a jdm swap already.

I went with jdm racing motors, pretty good experience had a couple of hiccups tho, the main parts motor and transmission were in good condition. They send the wrong year axles (I had to buy axle stubs to make it work) and the down pipe was for the single scroll turbo. Just make sure the vendor you go with verifies the items they are sending you will fit together.
Either version 7 or 8 do not have immobilizers, one less headache to deal with. Version 9 and up do.
For radiators I have a mishimoto for a 04 sti with slim fans. If you go that route you'll need to fab your own top brackets from the GD ones, trim and bend them a little. Then take a hammer to your hood for clearance. You also may or may not need wrx inner tie-rods, the GD control arms will increase the front track.
If you get a dccd transmission pickup a dccdpro the new controller has all sorts of new features, I have the old one DCCDPro.com
Also you'll need a turbo front crossmember from an old legacy or turbo WRX. And a fuel pump controller from a WRX.

Haha thanks Jared. Yeah I've been emailing jdm racing since last week and seem to be really good guys, I got the cross member already and as for trans, I won't be getting dccd. Also for the avcs was going to look into iaperformance since they make a bulk harness to run avcs. Already have my gates timing belt kit coming in, guess I should start looking for a radiator, clutch and fly wheel.
