I've had this idea for a long time, so I convinced another Iclub member to try it out. I sent him the links for all the parts, convinced him that he would have more sex if he listened to my idea, then and we fabbed it at my house.
It's basically a stealthback, catfree downpipe with a cutout that bypasses the muffler. We both thought about placing the cutout on downpipe itself, but just in case he went rotated I thought it would be cheaper to make a midpipe than to cut up a downpipe.

The cutout is boost activated and open very fast. Yes it requires tuning.
It goes from dead silent to obnoxious in a split second, and you can turn it off if you want by placing a solenoid inline. Or you could just keep your foot off the throttle. Because it's still a stealthback, it's not as restrictive as the stock system. It likely won't outflow a really good 3" system, but it's a lot more stealth. It's also loud when you want it to be. On the road dyno, the car showed some gains over a 3" system, but it was a crappy Ebay 3" catback, so I wouldn't consider it conclusive. The car has a good feel to it, and I could turn the boost up in the lower gears with very little knock. The car is dead silent around town and even at part throttle boost.

It's a different sound than an EWG due to the size of the pipe. It's a smoother sound, but it's equally loud.
This is us trying to tune on the street without getting arrested. We ripped it past a few cops, and as soon as he took his foot off the gas, they couldn't figure out which car it was. Pretty cool stuff.

Just know that the purpose of this is NOT to make more power than an aftermarket catback. It's really just so that you can run something quieter and make the power of a louder/bigger more free-flowing catback without the constant noise.
I have a few other ideas for turbosystems too. I'll update you on that in the coming months (just got a nice TIG welder).

Wastegate to open a throttle plate or have the speed of the exhaust gasses open it,..

Longer video would've been awesome and vid of the tach,...about what rpm did it start to get loud?

It's boost activated, so you can put a cheap *** ebay boost controller on it and have it open later or slower.
You don't need to worry about it not opening beccause if it doesnt, who cares?

BTW I didn't make the cutout. It's from SP racing and is not cheap, but it's a solid piece that I don't think will fail. My friend may send me more vids.
I know that the car took a bit more timing with this setup, so I know he's making more power, and I know he's happy with it.



He's still asking about the sex though. I won't post pics of that, so don't worry.

It's boost activated and not dependent on RPM. Native wastegate pressure is 7psi, but you can raise it by adding a bleeder valve.
You can also turn it off completely by cutting boost to it with a solenoid and switch

With a 2 stage boost controller and a cheap Home Depot bleeder valve, you could change the opening to 15psi. Have one boost setting that was 14 psi so the valve would stay shut and still have reasonable boost to play around, and then have the second setting at 21 psi and have it open to allow better flow and lower EGTs.

I just never got around to wiring that up for him. I'll work on that with my second project and I put it in my own car.
