hmm...looks like my post didn't go through.

The 09 WRX is faster to 60 mph than the 08 STI because it is lighter and requires less shifts to get to 60 mph. The power of the STI is reflected in the fact that it is faster in the 1/4 mi with more weight and more shifts.

While the 09 WRX wins the 0-60 bench race, the STI wins the real world race where acceleration past 60 mph, cornering, and braking play a role. The STI wide body alone is worth the price of admission.

If the difference in price between the 09 WRX and 08 STI were ~$3k, I would get the 08 STI.

Oddly, I did neither and opted for a more expensive and less reliable automatic sedan.

I believe with the knock off I heard of the 08 lgt. I'm sure it's the same price, if not off by just a couple grand.

I had the same dilemma ... went to ask about the 09 WRX but walked away with a 08 STI. IMO, the SI Drive and DCCD is worth the extra money. The wider fenders, bigger wheels, better tires, better seats/interior are personal preferences and if it fits your tastes.

Dare to be different, get an 09 sedan, lower it on some nice wheels, and watch people as they try to figure out what you're driving.

Check this out.

LOL, at work we had a couple who were staying with us and had a rented Impreza Sedan. They asked if we could bring down their Corolla!
