dealing in an accident situation?

hi my friend not too long ago got into a small accident with another car. thing they first decided to offer him cash so they would not deal with the insurence. then later on he went to get some esitimate and turned out it cost kinda alot. so then they told him tojust contact ther insurence.

is this the right thing to do?????

EDIT its been almost 2 weeks since the accident happend and now they tell him to contact thir insurence.

I believe they would need a police report though. I would ask Hslin or Bao Ling on how that works.

An accident isn't criminal (unless DUI or death or hit and run etc...), so all HPD actually does is document the time, place, and those involved. We check for injuries and make sure both personal and vehicle information is up to date.

It would actually be kind of hard to make a report now since the initial accident took place 2 weeks prior. I would personally suggest calling his insurance as soon as possible, informing them of the accident. The only problem I see is if he changes the story and attempts to place blame on your friend instead.

Good luck.

If you want, I have a friend who works at AIG. I could ask him about the situation if you like. If you really need a report #, let me know, I might be able to help out. Problem is, I'm on vacation until Sept. so I couldn't personally make the report for you. Let me know ASAP.
