Darton Sleeves for ALL Suby's
This will probably get redirected...
However, I would like to inform my suby buddies that if they plan on upgrading their blocks because they are worried about cylinder wall deflection (ie distortion under high loads) that there is an alternative to buying a COBB block or an STi block.
Get a used EJ25 like mine and install Darton sleeves.
Stock cylinder walls have a tensile strength of 30,000 psi.
Darton sleeves are 130,000 psi....
hmmmm.... . and for only 85 bucks a sleeve.
Plus I talked to Ted's Machine shop here in Kalihi and they said that they'd put them in for 150-300 bucks depending on what else you need done.
Good Points:
Cheaper than a new block
Stronger than any block out there for our cars
Run 800+ HP without fear
They feature oversized sleeves too. 103mm for my block= more cc!!
Bad Points:
4-6 weeks for sleeves to get here. They just started making them for suby's and they're testing the waters. IF they sell a bunch and see a large interest they'll start stocking them. IF they don't, then they make them upon order (thus the long wait)
.... that's it.
