Bingo! Not all of us petrolheads know how to mod effectively, or can be bothered to do it at all. If I had the money, I'd much rather buy a package car. I'm pretty sure Cosworth knows a whole lot more than me, that's for sure.

CS did the CS400 on STI for one reason as well... to hit Evo FQ400 in the nuts.
Look at the Evo 8-10 FQ400, it does pretty well in sale at the same price range.
Not bad idea for CS to take the challenge.
stay tune for a CS400 vs FQ400.

Let's judge the car as it is: A F'ing COSWORTH STI. The price is inflated anyway since tax in the UK is ridiculous. For what it's worth, it's equivalent to a $53,000 STI. It doesn't sound so bad price wise. The conversion is simple:
It cost 52k GBP for a C63 in the UK, it costs $55k USD for the same car in the US.
Personally, you can build any car to anything you want. It could be a Veyron-killer with enough money, but in the end you're left with the same car you started.
I remember the day someone asked me why I was looking at the new E63 when you can get a Camaro for half the price and mod it just as fast. I just told him that I wasn't looking for a Camaro and if I wanted one, I'd buy one already.

It's reliable horsepower that I would like in my car, if it came that way from the dealer that's the way I would like it. I'm not much of a tinkerer and generally lack the knowledge to tweak so I won't touch the engine. I really liked what Lichtfield did with the '06-'07 A-line STi in the UK - reliable power and handling. I would rather have a car that is tuned with a particular amount of horsepower from the factory than a car that is stressed and could possibly go at any moment. So price be damned if I can afford it, I'll buy it. Just my two cents. My STi will shortly be seven years old, with no problems whatsoever (knock on wood) just the way I like it.
