Coolant residue on top of radiator...

Hey All,

Have any of you noticed coolant residue in your engine compartment? I notice a lot of dried residue around my radiator (even reaching as far as my accessory belt cover) and notice coolant "gum" around the seal where the top tank is bonded to the aluminum fins of the radiator.

Anybody else notice this?

Ed (sub-sonic) is this a common problem? Think the FHI warranty would see it my way if I asked them to change it under warranty?

aloha,
Richard...

Richard a higher output engine does make the factory cooling system work a little harder. You have to admit that you are not anywhere near stock WRX HP levels

the stock radiator sucks, .... or leaks rather. It is a semi-common problem.

you should be able to get it replaced under warranty, 18hr did.

Richard, ... just found out that the radiator on the '04 is supposed to be a much thicker core than the 02-03.
So if you take your car in to Ed, you should be able to get a better radiator.

Sean,
You're still a WRX pimp even though your hail from RWD culture now. Thanks!

Hmm, I don't think the WRX radiator is a 'drop in', but it couldn't be far off, ... but for what you'd pay to get a '04 radiator, you may as well get a racing one.
You can get a 2 core racing radiator here on island for pretty cheap (under $160 or so, I think), ... ask Jeff @ Waipahu suby for the contact info for that guy, I forgot who it was.
