Contact Lenses

i'm getting to the point where i'm frustrated that a lot of different ones seem not to work for me.. the problem is drying eyes and irritation.

which one do you use?

Acuvue Oasys?
Baush & Lomb?

People that wear contact lenses daily please chime in.. I wanna hear some reviews and also stuff I should stay away from

I'm assuming you're talking about the solution right or the actual contacts. if it's the actual contacts then you'd want to see your doctor

Go see your optometrist.

Contact lenses aren't something that I recommend going out and getting reviews on, etc. to find out what you want to get. Your eyes are far too important for that. I recommend you talk to your optometrist about your symptoms that you are having and see if he/she will prescribe you something else.

Different brands/models of contact lenses make specific ranges of diameter, base curve radius, and power. For example, I cannot get Accuvue because they do not make them in my size and bcr. This is another reason why this thread's question won't make any sense. Your optometrist would know what material would be best for you and your symptoms.

I used to use Biometrics 38 until I switched optometrists in which he recommended O2 Optix. He claims it breathes better so it is better for my type of eyes.

I use Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus and they are perfect for me.. no dryness, itching, redness,.. whatsoever reaction on it..I can actually wear this 12 hours straight and no problem....that's on me though...maybe not everyone's eye reacts the same until you try it..

I'm getting my wife laser eye surgery next year and me the year after.

All you gotta do is go see the optometrist in December and get a quote for what it will cost. Then you go see your employer and put that amount in your "Flexible Spending Plan" you end up paying for it free of income tax. So that means you save around 20 to 30%...give or take.

Like most people have said...you really should go and see your optometrist, or better yet, see an ophthalmologist (optometrists check for routine eye diseases such as cataracts and glaucoma and they also dispense glasses and contact lenses; ophthalmologists are M.D.'s who prescribe drugs and do more in-depth tests and screenings). I worked for a ophthalmologist for 7 years and also worked in the O.R. for a few years before I started my current career.

Everyone has different issues with contact lenses and just like glasses, they are not a true "one size fits most". In addition to BCR, diopter strength and diameter to fit your cornea, you do have to take in consideration astigmatism and CL material. So, what may feel ok to me, may not to you and vice versa.

I used to wear contact lenses, but they proved uncomfortable when I would work in the O.R. and would dry out very fast. I ended up having laser surgery 11 years ago (yes, I'm THAT old) and I can still see 20/20. It's a great option that you should consult with your eye care provider if contacts are just not for you anymore.

I use Focus Dailies. I've found that with any brand, after about 7-8 hours or so, they're gonna get dry and itchy. You can always remove and re-moisten at that point. The dailies are nice because they have less build-up, as you put in a new pair every day. Even though they're more expensive I think they're worth it...particularly if you have allergies.

If you don't like your doctor, you could always change.

I wear rigid gas permeable lenses. When you start wearing them, it feels a little scratchy for the first month or so since they're semi-hard (eggshell-like consistency). Once you get used to them though, it's like wearing nothing at all because they're "breathable". If your eyes feel dry, all you need to do is squint, cup your hand to the faucet, and stick your eyes in for a few seconds and you're good to go!
I once wore them for 38 hours straight with no problems other than a little red eye when I took'em off, but of course that's not advisable.

i wear 02 optix, i forgot what i had before but i had problems with dry eyes too. when picking a brand, my doctor makes me test out a trial pair for a week and makes me comeback for a follow up check to see how it worked out..
