Not sure if it comes with it, but to see if it's installed open up a command window (or do a start|run) and type "winword" (without the quotes). If MS Word is installed on the computer it will start up. If not, then it won't.

new comps don't come with office. they never do. it might have a trial installed, but it's only a trial. if it's just a gaming pc then i wouldn't put office on it. just get a drappy one to do that. GL and happy gaming. L8R

I just looked it up on the Compaq website and it list Word as one of the choices listed below.

Choices:
None
Microsoft(R) Works Suite 2005 includes Word 2002
Microsoft(R) Office Basic Edition 2003
Microsoft(R) Office Small Business Edition 2003

It could be the model you bought does not come bundled with Word or some form of Office program.

IIRC, There's XP Home and XP Pro, with the latter lacking MS Office. Home, on the other hand comes with basic programs, including word. I could be wrong.

Hmm....MS office will cost a bit if you buy it in a store....but there are "other" ways to obtain them....

Josh you are wrong. No MS OSes come installed with Word. There are several choices, get a pirated copy from me or Jayson. Download a better office sweet called http://www.openoffice.org/ just make sure you dl the windows version. OpenOffice.org, OOo as you may see it, is a open source office suite. It is great and completely free. The difference between XP home and pro are things left out or disabled in home like multiple user account management, policy editor, and the way memory is managed. Home no matter what your task is an inferior OS. I wouldn't run home if someone paid me, or windows for that matter. I only have a PC for using my ECUtek Deltadash with. Mac is the way to go, but not yet if you are a hardcore gamer. Justin, you saying something stupid like don't install office on a gaming PC it will slow it down makes me want to hit you. Don't give bad advice to people. You can run tons of software on a "gaming pc" and it will not affect your gaming whatsoever. The mistake you made was buying a computer from COMPAQ. There is no "good" prebuilt computer company. If you want to have a real "gaming pc'' which is what I assume Crapaq uses this formula regualr pc + better video card = gaming pc.

Cool

This is so funny that a guy just asked if he has office installed on his pc... it turned out to be a debate on who knows more about pc.. that is all crap

If you bought the pc and came with MS Office as mentionned on your invoice, then you should claim it to Compaq or the place of purchase.

So I can see that Keirna has the most "experience" in computer...

I are r33t n'est pas?

Office won't slow down your PC. If you want to be that complete about just remove memory resident portions of it such as speech recognition and office startup.

Anyhow yes there are other means of getting software, but I wouldn't personally make the mistake of discussing it on a public forum. All it take is one **** person to turn people in and collect the reward money. But then again I'm a MS ***** who works with their products and people all day everyday.
