Cold Air Infusion! Pics Posted...
Scroll to Bottom....I added in some finalized pics with both pieces painted and clearcoated...
Hey, I finally got motivated today...a couple weeks ago, I purchased a spare (passenger) fog light cover for my STI off of Ebay.
So, I've been looking all over here in Kaneohe-City Mill, ACE, etc...found some parts but I finally went down to Home Depot and picked up what I needed in the Dryer section of the store...
I picked up a Dryer diffuser, cut a 4" hole in the front cover, carefully installed the diffuser...
Took my front wheel off, installed the 4" metal hose, fabricated a plastic piece to install the hose near the air cleaner...
Kind of took a while drilling, cutting, and fitting but it was all worth it...the hose directs cold air directly to my AVO Short Ram Intake...
Prior to the install, when I ran my car, the air filter element of the Short Ram was very hot to the touch...after the install, I took the car out for a brief run on the highway, pulled over...and boy, what a difference in temperature...the whole engine bay was much cooler! I'll try and take some pics...took ideas from several members off this forum...I would really recommend this mod...directs cool air directly into the engine bay!

I Think the pictures are making me look good...
Thanks guys...
Really though...the engine bay, after moving, is much cooler...no extra noise that I am aware of...
Riding in the rain is no problem...it's not hooked straight up to the intake or anything...no suction, the water droplets will have a hell of a time making their way through that tube...the tube because of it's design ( it is not the most aerodynamic piece of equipment...but it does let the cooler air inside the bay...
rats...I'm sure if rats wanted to get into an engine bay, it could easily do that regardless of this tube...cats use to do that during the winters in Anchorage...the strays would try to warm up...sometime they would get...yeah, it's gross...
The reason I didn't use any screening (yet) was because it creates such oppositional forces to the movement of air (and I couldn't find what I was looking for)...I was noticing, that even during a fairly windy day here in Kaneohe, if I stepped outside...it would be blowing, but inside, even with a clear path for the wind to get through....I would feel only a fraction of the force through our window screen...I can easily attach something back there though...
Let me know if anyone wants to do this...I made a few mistakes that I could help you avoid if you should plan this...
