what upgrades do you have for your car again? I would go with exedy over ACT though

i thought we had this conversation already.... remember, there was the annoying turd from cali who wanted you to use the 40 puck.... i still say a new oem exedy would be perfect for your stage 2 setup. subaru really does use pretty decent clutches straight from the factory. my cars stage 2 setup runnin 17lbs of boost has held up great even on autocross days. i havent really heard of any guys who have gone the vf39 route complain about any slippage either. if you insist on going heavier i would reccomend exedy's 1 step over stock or their stage 2 organics. anything more on a daily driver would start to compromise its streetability. unless your are having some serious slippage problems you will be alot happier with those i think. plus if you really need that much more clamp power you are gonna be due for a tranny replacement soon anyway

oops, sorry bout that but i doubt that the price is gonna be much different. you can call rick at servco too and check their prices. it may be comparable to what you would pay with shipping from an online store. i would reccomend subaruparts.com tho if you go online. they are pretty reputable and i think shipping is reasonable for hawaii standards but dont quote me on it. just do a parts request and they will get back to you by email. they dont have the wrx clutch listed.

Bro An exedy stage 1 should be good! I am running a Exedy Stg 1 Clucth and a ACT lighten Flywheel. If your going to do the clutch you might as well do the Flywheel.

I got a good price on both 670 Shipped to Hawaii from Gruppe-S.

Hope this helps

yea man, check gruppe-s.. some nice deals... even tho ive read alot of bad about gruppe-s im taking a risk and tryin them out. i should have my clutch and fly here by thursday, ordered on sun.... i just went with an exedy organic clutch and light flywheel by gruppe-s, 659 shipped, should be cheaper for you if you go exedy. the ACT combos are little more expensive.

also, if you will be doing the work, make sure you clean all the parts with brake clean. i read that the flywheel ships with a oil residue on it for storage.

oil on metal = no corrsion or rust..... so that needs to come off before you install it.

Like Jimi^^^

Nevin,

If I had to change mine out right now, I would probably go with the Gruppe-S combo...good price.

Right now I am at Stg2 and running the Exedy Stg1 Organic Clutch and ACT Streetlite flywheel...

The Exedy clutch was recommended over the the ACT for two reasons...gripping power and foot pedal pressure...

The Exedy clamps harder than the equivalent ACT clutch, and the pedal pressure is less for the Exedy.

The ACT Streetlite flywheel is a lightened flywheel but not too light...my engine definitely revs more freely now...ACT has a lighter flywheel, prolite...but for wrx's...it's bad news due to the extra sensor on the WRX....throws cels...

Take offs are jittery...I didn't realize this until (I must have forgotten what it was like) I drove juniorsti's car the other day...the heavier flywheel really is much smoother than my lightened one...I usually have to feather the throttle to get a nice smooth start...

Anyhow, pro's and con's to both...

I guess I'll chime in here.
I have the Exedy Stage 1 clutch and Gruppe-S Flywheel combo.
couldn't beat the deal with anything anywhere else.

Yes, it'd be a little different since I have a STI, but I wouldn't go any other way.
ACT is good stuff, bet while I've run them on my DSM's in the past, the pedal pressure for the Exedy is the clincher.

Of course (again learned from my days with DSMs) a braided clutch line will help with any pedal effort issues (make it a little lighter by not allowing the rubber hose to flex/expand rather than apply the full hydraulic pressure to the clutch, but I digress.

but if you're gonna do the clutch, you may as well do the flywheel and the clutch line all at the same time.

just my 2c.
(and yes even the exedy jitters with the lightened flywheel)

I would suggest ACT all the way.

It's pretty tough for the foot/leg and you will feel the grip.

But its anwesome clutch.

I've been using the 4 puck ACT Extreme Race w/ ACT Pressure Plate & DSS Axles...and Its a fkn war and pain on my legs, but Im used to it now

Good Luck !!!
