Clutch + Hill

To keep things simple, is the clutch supposed to be good enough where you can hold yourself starting from a stop uphill without using gas?

Just stalled twice trying to do it and kept rolling back a little :-(

Don't use your clutch that way unless you're taking off. You'll wear it out a bit quicker.

way to see if your clutch is still good try lock your ebrake and then let go the clutch the car should die right there. if it slips or rpms jump then ur clutch is slipping

one would hope a 2009 WRX clutch lasts longer than a year. did you figure out how to defeat the hill assist?

easy answer: use your hand/parking brake to avoid using gas on hill.

easier answer: you trade in your WRX for a 2.5 GT with automatic transmission.

if your car has hill holder like the foresters then yes. on a hill after coming to a stop you should be able to just hold down the clutch and not move. if you're using this make sure that on steep hills you press the brake down hard when you stop, the braking force is proportional to how far down the brake was pressed. if however you are trying to go after a stop on a hill you need to use the gas, otherwise...well...you'll stall

ya, i don't do it often. I was just wondering why I stalled the first time, so I tried it one more time to see if maybe something was going wrong with the clutch. rolled back and stalled anyways so that was my fail.
