Man, where you guys when I had a Group Buy from Rev Lab going????? If this is for AutoX I would plan on going w/ the 11.5 to 1 from Revlab. Their 12:1 is not quite 2 turns lock to lock. It's more like 2.2 turns. If you want to feel what a quick steering rack feels like, drive an EVO. I drove one at AutoX and It's not quite quick enough for my taste, and that's a 13.5:1 if I'm not mistaken. By the way, what's taking so long from Rev Lab????

EVO 13:1, I couldn't remember what I orded, but I ordered the 11.5:1. Rev-labs doesn't really make the 11.5:1 anymore since it is so quick. There is a 12.5:1 and an 11.5:1. Like I said, I've been waiting on mine 7 months.

The Crucial one just uses a 1.5:1 stock car steering quickener - http://www.stockcarproducts.com/steer4.htm .

Pat,
What are the shortcomings of something like that? Is it less durable or capable?
If not, maybe I'll do a little research how to add that to my own rack as opposed to paying $500.
Thanks

Honestly, I don't know. I first learned of this through the Motorsports forum over on nasioc - read this thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=howe and you'll find the info. I think the same guy ended up doing this - http://www.landefabrication.com/products.html - note that the website appears to be dead except for that page, but I seem recall the homepage used to show the rally car, so I'm pretty sure it was the same guy.
Anyway, one would think that since these things are designed for circle track / stock car racing that they would be stout enough to handle some serious abuse. Nonetheless I'm still not sure how keen I am on cutting and welding the steering column, unless I had someone I really knew had a clue about what they were doing.
