i just changed both my belts a few days ago too...got 35K on my car and belts were in terrible condition...i would also recommend everyone over 30K to check if not change their belts.
hey jon, how would you know how much tension to put on the belts?...i just kinda felt how tight the factory ones were and matched it as best i could.

i think you are supposed to measure how much it droops down and tighten or loosen so it droops down to whatever the recomended factory spec is.

What I ended up doing is justtighten the belts down until they are tight and then adjust it tighter or less tight depending on if the belts make noise or not. If you're replacing both bets then you'll want to turn on your A/C to determine if they sweek or not after doing so. If it does then it could mean that your belts are either to tight or to loose. Another thing is you're replacing both belts one of them goes onto the power steering pump. you'll want to check if your belts make noise when you turn your wheel from lock to lock.

I'll be adjusting my belts today since I've been getting occasional squeaking.
Just remember that putting on TO MUCH tension will cause the belt to wear prematurely (stretching) and you'll have to replace the belt more often.
