Check Engine light

Hey there guys, I was just wondering if any got a obd2 code reader on them!! Reason why Im asking is because on my way home after todays meet, somewhere between pearl city and waipahu, my check engine light came on..My car is bone stock and was hopefully wishing that its just the o2 sensor or something simple to change out..No overheating,no oil leaks, oil pressure is constant, and no engine mods,etc...Maybe its because i never change my tranny fluid..Not sure.Could that be a possibility?? I remember my brother told me something to that nature. Well if anyone has a obd2 code reader, please let me know..
FYI:
2004 2.5rs

thanks,
walter

Checkers has them, and will scan your car for free.

it would definitely NOT be your transmission fluid.

it's probably your car telling you that you have to change your spark plugs or it's telling you to stop driving me like a grandma... LOL

checkers does have free OBDII scanning but do NOT look at the description. Just look at the code that is read and look it up online or ask someone with the FSM to verify. They use a generic scanner that is not specific to any vehicles.

Good luck

Jon

- it could also be your 02 sensor but i wouldn't say that's a good thing since they are very expensive to replace.

Thanks Jon and Beam!!!

Well, I just got out of the garage and did the simpliest check first.Which was to check my gas cover and I didnt tighten it to the point where it clicks so Im sure this was the root of the CEL coming on. So I tighten the gas cap, reset ecu by disconnecting the negative and positve battery terminals, pump brake pedal, put everything back but CEL didnt turn off yet.Ill have to go driving around and to checkers(on the safe side) to hopefully see the CEL go away. But yeah I know Jon, I hope its not the front 02 sensor heard it was like 182.00 bucks or something. Hope its just the spark plugs or a bad coil pack or something.

:sign0153:

Thanks,
walter

well if you didn't tighten the gas cap that is another reason for a CEL to appear. hopefully it won't come back.

well if it's obdii try check with another suby owner that has an accessport they might be able to read the code for you at least.

if not i'll see you at the next meet (hopefully) and read it for you. If i get a more stable schedule soon i'll start the meets again.
