CF Trunk Question...

ive been searching, and i can't seem to find any way to hold up my trunk except to use some kind of prop. its pretty "ghetto" having to keep a stick in my trunk to hold it up. anybody know if the wingless wrx trunk torsion rods can properly support a CF trunk? i have a feeling if i pick up some wrx torsion rods, it will make a wingless CF trunk fly open like an sti trunk with no wing... if i leave my sti wing on my trunk i can probably get away with the wrx torsion rods, but im trying to go wingless.

anyone know a better way?? if im that desperate, im gonna try and heat up some torsion rods to weaken them. the only problem is the metal will loose its flexibility and can possibly crack instead of flex, which is kinda dangerous

thanks..

yea i tried that, but it causes the trunk to flex and be misaligned preventing it from properly closing... once you do get it closed, it sits higher on the side with the tension

that is because each bar puts tension on either the left or the right side hinge that holds up the trunk. I have some wingless torsion since my car didn't come with a spoiler when I purchased it. I then installed the factory spoiler and it came with some upgraded (slightly) torsion bars which where black. These bars seemed to be too strong with the spoiler removed. I believe that they might be the same as the ones that come with the STI.

Since the CF trunk is lighter than (or very close to a wingless OEM trunk) I would say that your STI torsion bars would have a similar effect with an OEM wingless trunk.

If you cannot find someone that is willing to swap you torsion bars with those that are for a wingless trunk I would say buy some if you're that worried about it.
