Cel P1507
hey did n e one had dis problem b 4? I turned on my car this morning and the car's idle was high, 2000-1600 rpm and the CEL went on. COBB's CEL check idicated P1507, and it was the IAC. just was wondering if anyone here actually cleaned the IAC themselves and what method used to clean it.

Hey mark, look a couple posts down from this one. I just cleaned my icv about 3 days ago. If you check the link on my post (high idle) it will show you how to do it correctly.

most likely your IAC valves GASKET stretched causing it to leak. I cleaned mine and it really didn't resolve the issue. I didn't have time to go buy a gasket (not available locally). Come to find out the gasket that seals the IACV was stretched and didn't want to seat correctly. I ended up using some liquid gasket (blue one) and sparingly put it in the channel for the gasket (to much will cause it to go into the intake manifold...etc.) and FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER and let it sit for at least 24 hours BEFORE attempting to start the car. When doing so after 48 hours the car was normal again. Cleaning does help but if the gasket is gone or stretched you'll be cleaning it for nothing. The 02/03 ones are made out of a heavier metal while the 04+ uses a lightweight metal composite material. This was a temporary solution so that I could drive my car. You can order the gasket after your done
if you turn your car on (cold) the idle will be high. If after the car starts to warm up and it doesn't drop that causes your CEL to come on. The idle of the car at normal operating temperature should be between 500~700 RPM

if you clean the iac and it dont work check at the ecu to make sure that the gear pos sensor is working latkas car did the same thing and thats what it was better to spend 20 on the gear pos sensor and it be the problem then buyin a iac for 2 something and it not work

^like wise. Make sure that you pick up a new gasket from servco subaru parts. it costs about 7 bucks for a little rubber, but is necessary if you plan to clean your iav. The method i used was the alcohol one. Just pour some into the icv and let it soak while using qtips to clean it up. and if you found my thread, and the link on it , it suggest that you replace the screws with something stronger.

yo guys, I finally cleaned the IAC and replaced the gasket. After reseting the ECU I started the car. The idle didn't change, it still climbs to 2000 rpm then drops to 1600 rpm, and stays that way. So what should I do? do I need to buy another IAC?

sounds weird but i had a friend whos car was doing the same thing yours is we cleaned the iac still did it.in the manual it says it check the neutral pos switch also so we did and it was bad changed it out and all g the part is like 25 bucks at subaru

what did you use to clean the IACV? I used carburetor cleaner since it has lubricants in it. I was NOT able to physically move the valve by hand or by object. You also want to make sure you didn't score the surface of the IACV since that could cause a leak. Did you seat the gasket well?
