CEL 1199 and more!
Okay, Jayson (Jtech) just bought a '99 RS, and everything was running great on it, but the car was very dirty, so we bought all kinds of cleaning supplies. One of them happened to be the black magic engine shine. I've used it before on my STi and it worked very well. Well anyway no CEL's before the cleaning, and 3 or 4 afterwards. The first one was 1199, which I don't know what it is. If you know that would be very helpful, because I can't find any info on it. The other codes where 1086 to 1089, which have to do with the Tumble Generated Valve Position Sensor. I read all of these with my COBB, and then I cleared them out, but the CEL did not turn off. Instead it now flashes. I've checked to see if any of the errors have come back, but they have not. I've disconnected the battery to see if that might help, but I really have no idea what else to do. They guy who had the car before us had some crazy wiring scheme, so hopefully that is not the cause. Thanks for the help.

It was the test connectors, I guess he bought the car with them connected, and because a fuse was blown we never saw the cel until we cleaned the car and changed the fuse. Thanks to Keith at Kaneohe Subaru for help with that.

reset the ecu by taking the negative battery terminal off of the battery then see if the CEL comes back. you'll need to get the OBDII (if it is that) codes for the car you have.
