the air fuel ratio gauge and wideband gauge are two different types of gauges. as Krang stated if you plan on getting a wideband gauge then you'll NEED to have your downpipe modified {read: have a bung welded on by a person that actually knows how to weld not thinks they know how to weld} (unless you have a downpipe with a bung on it for a wideband sensor AND the rear oxygen sensor - this means 2 bungs on the downpipe total) BEFORE the install with the correct wideband bung. Usually the bung accompanies the gauge.
If you plan on getting a regular A/F gauge (narrowband) then you don't need to modify your downpipe and you will not have to run a sensor outside your car. The connections are straight to your ECU.

Above is the 1/8NPT adapter I'll need to install your oil pressure sending unit into the oil gallery port that replaces the plug that was previously there.

here is the location of the oil gallery plug/port that you'll need to remove in order to install the adapter mentioned above.

I'll also need wire taps, zip ties

where do you live?

did you buy the premium gauges or did you buy the performance gauges? The sending units are different on the oil pressure gauges. The premium series has a smaller sending unit whereas the performance series has a larger one which may not fit in that area.

If you have the performance gauges then you'll need one of these due to the larger sized sending unit that is supplied: http://www.wrxtra.com/catalog/produc...products_id=34
or you could use an oil filter adapter

yes you could but because our oil filters sit really close to our exhaust manifold it could potentially damage the sender unit or if you don't attach it securely it could be the cause of your engine loosing oil.

the sandwich adapter is cheaper option though. it's just my personal preference to do it this way. I prefer also to do it right the first time. I've had my oil pressure gauge connected the same way I explained since 2002 with no problems. I also don't need to change oil and or filter to install the gauge or adapters mentioned above
