buying a sti at servco
Hi guys,
I'm looking to pick up a black 07 sti at servco at the end of the year.
Basically, i was just wondering if anyone else got theirs from servco and if you were able to bring down the price. i basically dropped by today and the salesman said he wasn't gonna go any lower
thx guys

subarus sell for MSRP at servco. They are worth what you pay for them so haggling isn't really something our community does unless it's ridiculously priced which they aren't. There is a salesman that is on this forum that will back up what I just stated. What is your expectation on what a 2007 STI should be priced at? In all seriousness, if you cannot afford the Manufactures Suggested Retail Price then maybe an STI isn't for you. you might want to look into getting a WRX or TR since you'll probably want to modify it. Also any modifications that you put on the car aren't cheap either.
In the end... you have to pay to play

You can try Joe Spitz at Carter Subaru (www.cars101.com) in Seattle, WA. He sells STIs for invoice among other cars. My friend got his Legacy GT for $500 over invoice plus shipping (<$1k). He didn't have to pay tax in WA or HI. He ended up saving quite a bit.
I would do the same but I don't think I can wait.

we bought our 06 from servco....after going from servco...to mitsu...then back to servco all in one night....mitsu wanted to rape us on their cobwebbed non moving parking lot of evo's....not to mention since the ownership of subies changed hands....servco would give us a friendly service.
we got ours below msrp....because it was an 06 and 07s were out already...it was a real easy deal. if we bought an 07 they would have sold us at near MSRP.

man, get an 06 if they have one. the 07 sti's don't have the aluminum control arms. i think they did away with a few other things only the 05 & 06 had too, but i can't think of what it was.
plus, you know... i'm selling one. hehe

No dealer mark up
No added items on the car he wants
No hidden fee's
He is actually saving money on taxes by trading his car in
Only 7 07' STI's to last till march.

I just talk to Joe Spitz the other day and his prices are as follows:
invoice - 300 - current rebate + any options + shipping to hawaii = $XX,XXX.XX
which brings my quote for a 08 Forrester XT Sports to $27,526 shipped to Hawaii. this quote is not even including the current rebate of $500 so it only gets better.
Sorry **** not underminding you but blame your dealer for not bringing in the Sports model.
Now for the bad news (but not in my book) he will have to special order the model I want and it will take 8 weeks. To me 8 weeks is no problem considering i get what i want at a price that is already great now beat that! and all i have to do is be patient.

sry, been under the weather lately.
[QUOTE=houdni;1963550]we got ours below msrp....because it was an 06 and 07s were out already...it was a real easy deal. if we bought an 07 they would have sold us at near MSRP. QUOTE]
u know, that thought had crossed my mind, just to save a few bucks since the economy sucks now
****, what do u mean by saving money on taxes by trading it?
how much do you think i can get for my car if i traded in?
2000 celica gt-s, about 45k-50k miles, it's deff under 50k, 18" rims, kaaz lsd, i/e, hid, f/r/s airbags.
i know u have to actually look at the car, but could you give me a rough estimate? thx

You can save money by trading your car in because the trade in value of the car takes away a portion from the taxable cost of the car.
For instance, if you are buying a $30k car with no trade-in, you'd get taxed on that entire price. 30k x 4.712%=$1413.60.
Now if you trade your car in and get $10k trade-in, you only get taxed on $20k. 20k x 4.712% = $942.40.
The savings is $471.2 per $10k or trade-in value. Which IMO, considering you usually get reamed on the trade-in, you should not do. In states like WA where the tax rate is 8.6% ($860 per $10k) a trade-in is actually worth considering.
