Question buying an STi

Whats up guys, my name is ryan and im new to the forums. Not a subie owner YET, but hopefully soon.

Looking to buy an STi but not sure exactly what to look for and/or what to be aware of. Fairly new at the car scene but basically what I want is something as stock as possible, preferably an '05-'07 (but not mandatory), as i want to build it up myself.

Have some cars in mind and could use some experienced opinions. Willing to talk about it via PM. Thanks for the help in advance.

Ask for any history of accidents/damage.
Check tire wear or if car tracks straight (alignment)
Ask for papers or maintenance records.
Check for visible body damage/ paint discolorations.
Make sure all electricals work fine.
Ask if he has the title in hand.

if i were u.. i would say **** the sti and get any wrx 09 or newer.. throw a TBE and a professional tune and ur going to b very happy! STIs are not worth the upcharge unless u you want to pay for the emblem. and u will have more money for mods... just my opinion... but if u get a good deal of course the sti can't hurt

obviously you are just down playing what you can't afford. it's not just an emblem it has a whole lot more than just the emblem......

-6 gear speed w/DCCD
-upgraded brakes
-dual AVCS 08+ STi's versus 08+wrx's is only intake only
-extra flare ie. wide body
and I am sure I am missing a few more things

the only thing I will admit that is better about the newer WRX is the 5 speed is better suited for drag racing. of course this could be debatable.

throw these same mods in an STI and you will be even happier. 08Rixer please show some data where a WRX has consecutively beat out a STI in overall power going mod for mod.
