My sister's '02 WRX has the same problem, and it's not just me - she says the same thing.
I just pulled the bad line out of the car. I talked to a couple dealers today and nobody had the part on hand. Actually, Schuman might, but their computer system was being kinda weird - when they called up a '97 2.5GT it showed a part number and I think he had that in stock. When he plugged in my VIN to verify it was the right part, it no longer showed the part.
Anyway, the other dealer I talked to referred me to Air & Hydraulic Service in Honolulu - apparently if you bring them a line they'll manufacture a replacement with a couple hour turn-around. So, I'll bring the bad line to Schuman to see if it matches what they may or may not have on the shelf, and if that doesn't work I'll try Air & Hydraulic.

Got a braided stainless steel replacement fabricated at Hydra-Air Pacific off of Nimitz. http://www.hydraairpacific.com/main.htm Took 'em about 25min and cost about $30. I could have gone with rubber for less dough but figured I'd splurge on the pimpy braided line. 
Now I just gotta install the thing and figure out how to bleed the system and I'll be good to go.
