from what i learned in hcc, you MUST resurface, or replace your rotors when replacing your pads. when you throw on pads on a set of used rotors, the pads will wear unevenly and will not have 100% contact. the rotor will have grooves and pits that the pad will not be touching, thus minimizing the performance of your brakes. resurfacing the rotors will create a nice flat surface that the pad can easily conform to and make a better full contact with. resurfacing may also remove any runout on your rotors. make sure you find a reputable place to cut your rotors, of they do it wrong, or are careless, they can cut runout into the rotor.

^^^Yeah...Checkers in Kaneohe...

I took my rotors over there, off the car and they mic'd them first to see if they were within tolerance, then went to work resurfacing them...$15/rotor...and they came out nice.

I think Pacific Automotive does them for $16.50/rotor...if you have base priviledges, you can take them to the Navy Exchange Autoshop, off Nimitz and they will do it for $10/rotor...

And what Jimi said...if you get new pads...get your rotors resurfaced...you'll like the Project Mu NS pads...gets kind of squeaky though if you don't keep the rotors clean...

^^^No problem man...

It's the Checkers next to Safeway across from the Windward Mall...Have them Mic your rotors while you are there...

Mine were really in bad shape when I took it in...the rear ones were warped according to the guy resurfacing my rotors...but he was able to flatten them out...

I suggest also upgrading your lines and fluid if you're gonna be doing the pads...might as well do them all at once.
