Blow Off Valve sounds...what are they?

I've been downloading some vids on the net...and I've been hearing some different sounding blow off valves...

Instead of the sounds of the WRX Recirc/Blow Off valve "PSHHHH" or "PTCHEEE" or even a high pitched whistle...

I've been hearing some worked cars (Supra, Skyline, Evo, even a SRT) have blow off's that sound like a low stuttering kind of sound...it almost sounds like an electronic game....pooh poh poh poh...

Are these cars running external wastegates? They sound really cool...the ones I have been hearing are from the inside of the vehicle...

Greddy Type S have many sounds since you can adjust the spring and remove or install springs inside.

Only a handful of BOVs are compatible w/ our cars. Blitz....... is not one of them~! So do some research first. Good luck.

My APS Dual Vent has

an airy sounding Pitcheeeeeeee...when I boost it...otherwise it totally recirculates and makes a much quieter sound.

I like the way the venting sound gets broken up into parts...I went on some other sites and they say it's a combination of bigger turbo, external wastegate...HKS SSQV older model?

They also say it is from compressor surge...

I have HKS SSQ on mine it makes the poh poh poh sound, not too obnoxious but not overly quiet, its my favorite sounding one.

I always thought the fluttering sound comes from compressor surge, as the turbine blades pulse through the air due to the bov being too tight and air having to escape back into the turbo. Possibly the piston in the bov is fluttering too and helping cause the noise.

Pm "jumpman23" for a sard r2d2 sound clip/vid....it doesnt sound like the cool stuttering noise though. but Jon's r2d2 sounds like it. diference being Jon=auto tranny/jumpman=manual. go figure

Jon told me its the wastegate flutter that makes that stutter sound....i have txs rfl and on low boost it has a cool stutter sound also
