Thumbs up

gdogg: I just bought a house in Keaau recently.
Lookin forward to that cruise up Mauna Kea sometime!

Last time I drove to Waikoloa (about 3 weeks ago), I was hopping I'd see the skyline. No luck - I was looking forward to it. Such a nice car.

Just a few months ago. Sounds like my place is pretty close to yours. I'm between Kaloli and Paradise. Shower Drive is a great spot -- I'm sure you can get a buyer quick. There were a few houses and properties nearby me when I made my purchase and now there are only 1 or 2 left. People are buying quick here because the property value is jumping up fast.

Someone stopped by my place today in a white STi. I never met the guy before, but he wanted to introduce himself and let me know that there was a WRX/STi cruise today. Unfortunately I already had family plans for the holiday. But it sounded fun. They all met up by the Walmart parking lot in Hilo.

thats what i miss about hilo. people there in general are a little nicer than here in honolulu- i mean you just don't have people coming to your house to introduce! most of us are "shame"

Holy s*it, that drive up to Mauna Kea is KILLER to your car .. LOL

I went there last year and took a rental up there, (shhh...) omg the little Oldsmobile Alero didn't know what hit it. It kept switching from almost redlining 1st, to 2nd and back down because it couldn't pull anymore. We had a full car. I felt sorry for it.

On the way up, its your engine. On the way down, its your brakes I wonder if an agressive pad compound would work wonders on the way down?

Otherwise, when you get up there, its wonderful. I love it. Sometimes I wish it was that cold at our house .. You Big Islanders have some nice places to cruise..

I just drove there today with my STI. Too bad I had my gf and my 2 kids. Not to mention the tourist that believed that 35 was the actual speed limit and that 25 around the turns was deemed sufficient. Usually all the locals do 55 with 65 on the stretches on the milolii side of Kona. The fastest I went there was 65 on the turns and 90 on the stretches. Any faster and i would've been picking coffee out of my grill.... in the lava field. Too bad it was with my old slammed GSR. Took my bike there a couple of times but couple of my frenz ended up in the hospital so I take it easy on the bike.
