What I've run

PDE DP, 3" either HKS or Tanabe Super med. No check engine lights! Not too heavy.

I've had the Blitz Nur Spec Axle Back and the Blitz Nur Spec Cat-back with a PDE downpipe... I love them both...

However I now own a Stromung Turbo Back Exhaust (Divorced wastegate downpipe with racepipe (NO cats)) twin tip design and this exhaust kicks ***!!!

You can talk to Brian from Flash N Dash Performance https://www.i-club.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-158/stromung-exhausts-look-no-further-best-deals-around-61428/ let him know Jon from Hawaii sent you!

He's a great guy and give great customer service!

I'd say Tanabe, actually its the only exhaust manufacturer I have bought from.

My Civic had a Racing Medalion, and now I have a Ultra Medalion on my WRX. I tried to look for other exhausts, but I always bought a Tanabe. Oh and on a side note Tanabe USA is very helpful on the phone.

I have the Turbo XS on my car... while it is a little heavy it sounds good (not to loud) and seems to have good HP over stock. 4in bellmouth downpipe to 3in exhaust.

I know what you mean, but I believe its because of the little restrictor inside that makes the exhaust flow through a 2.5" section. I have no idea what it is but when you take it out, your exhaust is both louder, deeper and less raspy/metallic.

I've seen this on some/ most apex N1's and HKS Hi-power/Carbon-Ti.
