Best Place to buy tires on Island

Okay I need some new tires for my STi, so where does everyone recommend I go. Firestone told me 1200 just for tires! I told them they were smoking crack, and left. Tire rack has all the best ones for under $200 a tire. Is there anywhere here that will not rip me off?

Great question! Hopefully someone here knows something, as I would be asking shortly (I will soon need tires for my STi as well).

Back when I had my 'Stang, I purchased a set of Kuhmo's from Tire Rack. Apparently, Tire Rack has a deal with FedEx where 2-day Air shipping to Hawaii was like $80--totally reasonable for 4 tires (two 245/45/17 and two 255/45/17--not small tires).

After receiving the tires I decided to have them installed at Lex Brodie's on Queen. The dismounting/mounting fees were ASTRONOMICAL! I think it was over $100 IIRC. It made all the savings acquired from Tire Rack moot. They said the cost was higher because I didn't purchase the tires from them (because they didn't have the tires I wanted in stock). Well, as I was paying my bill, low and behold, a brown truck pulls up with a shipment from...guess where...the Tire Rack! So let's just say, if you're going to order tires from Tire Rack, it's going to be a good deal...just don't have the tires installed at Lex Brodie's.

call around for unmounting old tires, mounting new ones, and balancing.

the best i found at the time (maybe 4 months ago).. and in my area was Nu Image in wahiawa... $10 jus to remove one tire. so it does add up for a set...

for some of u that might say costco... i jus went to the waipio one and there was a sign on the door saying they will not install tires not bought from them.

and make sure the tire machine doesn't 'claw' your rim for guys with forged ones...

BridgeStone Potenza RE750...FireStone on Hickam they were on sale got $150 off. They are $656 shipped from TireRack then I would have had to pay EuroSport to mount them because I wouldn't want my wheels messed up... So I got them on base for $734 mounted, balanced, free lifetime rotation, flat repair and I am sure there is something I am missing so it was worth it to me to pay that price...

Buy from tirerack and install at costco. They charge about $9/tire to mount and balance. This assuming that you have or know some who has a membership. Costco also has pretty decent prices on tires and can bring in tires if they don't have them in stock also.
