but there is a huge chance I will settle in HI before the years end. So, my question to you, good fellas, is, is it better for me to keep my cars registered in CA or do i HAVE to register them in HI?
There is no way my WRX will pass all the BS inspections you guys have there.
Please elaborate....

That's awesome! But you're right, your ride will never pass our BS inspections At least there's no emissions testing here.
I don't know for sure on the reg thing, but I think you will have to register here if your CA reg expires.

I don't see why you car wouldn't pass the safety inspection. Everything must be in working order, lights, wipers, wipermist, emergency brake, seatbelts, no cracks in windows, good tires, brakes. As long as you keep your car in good running order. You should pass. I lived there for seven years and never had a problem with inspection.

I know of at least 2 recon garages that'd disagree with you Joey. That is unless there's been some sort of crackdown.

alex,
if you move here you'd be the only sneaky russian in the islands...unless we have some former KGB lurking somewhere-
getting a basic safety check should not be too much of a problem... now if you are talking of recon...

Hmmm.. I would say it would be quite difficult to pass recon for your car Alex. I am not saying you can't pass, it probably require you to change a few things on your car.
Other than that I hope you can come here!
