Gotta admit, the island favorite is green bottles. A couple days ago I had the opportunity to try Blue Moon, and I gotta say, it's one of the few beers that I like. But Corona is still my number 1. Experimenting and trying new beer is good. There's a beer for every occasion.

I am going to have to disagree with everyone else in this thread. A good beer is hard to find in Hawaii. I say this because I come from a small town <6000 people and it has 5 micro-breweries just on the main street. Here in Hawaii the closest thing you can get to that is Gordon Beirsch or Brew Moon, neither of which compare. As for bottled beer you only find the basics you would anywhere else. Smaller breweries and more "exotic" imports are hard or impossible to find even at the few liqueur stores that dot the island. Last but not least if you are into brewing your own beer, brew supply stores are few and far between.

Not to be a dick (well maybe a little) but we don't have breweries here, so i don't know if people would know a good beer. However, we do have some pretty good and fresh AHI (5 kinds that i know of), and i know most people elsewhere could'nt tell the difference between them to save their lives. Different floats for different boats i guess. I am trying to drink new beers, but honestly have'nt gotten to THAT level yet i guess.
I went to college by the OLY's brewery, and free brew and ice blocking was cool to me.

Oh hey, this thread is back.
I guess I should have chimed in after I did visit last Jan/Feb that I was blown away by the beer selections and how many awesome Hawaiian brews there were. The reason I started this thread was because I like dark / original / microbrews and not so much of the typical pilsners and other generica beers (IE green bottles), which tend to be the only option in some states I've visited.
Hapa beer from Keoki brewery was probably my favorite... I tried a whole ton I can't seem to remember.

Just got back from a summer visit from my parents in VA.
Drank some really good local micros, and of course wines. Some great beers i had that i could remember was yuengling, 33 export (vietnamese beer), and many others. I had several blue moon, inflused type beers as well.
