With the current favorable safety results of the Impreza platform and the control and dynamics that the Sti chassis has, I actually feel safer in the Sti than in the considerably larger Trooper.
The STI has really soft back seats...very comfortable for the little ones...and I really did buy my car for the rally aspects of it...but I did not discount the high safety rating that it received...Between our Honda Pilot, Acura 3.5RL, and my STi...I feel my kids are pretty safe...

sorry to hi-jack, but any of you guys know where i can get the "baby on board" sign. the yellow one, and it sticks to the interior part of your window.

as far as a new born is concerned I would be worried more about their EARS rather than the comfort of the rear seats.

Since it is a new born do NOT even think about getting any type of exhaust or any type of modification that will make your car louder. also keep the suspenion stock since your baby will be riding in the back seat.

when my son was born I sold my exhaust and went with the stock one for at least 3 months or so since his ears are VERY SENSITIVE.
