Azenis and your thoughts?
Anyone running the Falken Azeni sports? I think i seen it on EtchyLives car at the autoX yesterday (at least i figured that was him...unless someone else has plates that say "Etchy") I was just wondering how do you like these tires? Are they noisy? Sticky? wear quick? how does it handle in the rain? thanks..i might be able to get a real good price on um...so let me know.

Yep, that was Etchy's car...
Those used to be mine. Very sticky yet pretty cheap. I bought them for $78 a tire (205/55/16). They make a lot of noise, but not quite as loud as the stock STi tires. Treadware is 200 so they will wear quickly.
When I replace the tires on the STi I will go with either Azenis or S03s.

Yes, they are sticky. yes, they are kinda noisy. (not enough to bother me over the sound of my exhaust, though ) Yes, they shred easily.
I've had these for a couple of months and love them, however I am not looking forward to purchasing another set in 4-6 months.
That being said, I will buy another set.
I've heard some complaints about their wet handling, but I've never had problems or any fear while driving in Mauka downpours (Pali, H-3, Mililani, Likelike) nor on normal wet roads. No worse than any aquatread I've ever driven on. I give them a thumbs up, but I'd give them 1 year MAX tread life if you drive anything like I do. A lot less if you Auto-X every month.

Mine are TOO sticky.
They've lasted ~10k miles so far and aren't dead yet... Then again I don't hang turns very often.
No problems in the wet either (again - don't hang turns).

Or we could just swap rims for the weekend.

Dude, I just picked up a set and just have to mount them. Just take my car for a test drive if you want to get a feel for the grip. Again, I suggest getting an extra set of Kumho V700's just for the track. It's well worth it!

I'm seriously considering some cheap OEM knock-offs for Daily driving, and leaving my stock wheels with the Azenis, or maybe the v700's for auto-x. There are 2 problems:
1. I may be going to Korea in a year or so (no car, no auto-x, no nothing)
2. I really think I should just save up the cash, get some nice 17's, and put the v700's on my 16's.
Decisions, decisions. I hate being patient and responsible. Every bone in my body is screaming, "screw the wife. Just get the wheels, tires, and brakes you want and live with the consequences on your CC bill." While the rational part of me is saying, "all things in moderation." I wish I was younger, because I would have bought all that stuff for my car already.
