Auto-X Questions...
Couple questions.
1. Helmet. Can I use an open face half helmet? Dont really want to drive with a full motorcycle helmet on. Just curious.
2. Helmet. What rating does it need to be? Is it DOT or SNELL 95? I know its only like 92 for now, but I heard 2004 will require 95 so why not get it now.
2.5. Helmet. Good place to buy one? I assume any motorcycle shop, but just curious if anyone knows a good place for affordable helmets.
3. Out at auto-x is there a place where spectators can hang out? Decent area? Curious because my wife is interested in seeing what its all about, but I want her to be able to kick back somewhere half-way comfortable. Of if I bring a chair and umbrella can I set it up somewhere?
4. When I make a fool outta myself on Sunday are you all gonna laugh?
Thanks!

hey dave. good to see you can make it to scca.
3. a good area to sit is at the time trailer as it usually covers just less than half the course and has some shade. (bring an umbrella anyways and definitely some comfy chairs.

Let me know if you wife is actually coming. Maybe I can persuade my wife to come too and meet your wife. I would like my wife to see this action because she told me no racing at all...not even Auto X. Just want her to see what goes on. Thanx man.

Actually according to SCCA passengers are legal anytime. I've been in 3 other regions where passengers are allowed. A passenger only really hurts you anyway, (extra weight). But it is a great learning tool, even for seasoned auto-xers. You can get tips from someone who is better at it than you are, have someone else tell you where you need improvement. However, it could have something to do with Hawaii insurance providers, I dunno.
