Auto X was great again!

Today was much fun! I finally get to really feel my new setup. MUCH more grip and handling characteristics than a stock Forester. The course was alright, but I got 2 DNFs and on my other two runs, I hit 1 cone each (boooo). However, I got an 84.xxx on the official runs, but an 83.xxx and an 82.xxx on the fun runs! Chee hoo!

I was lucky to see Francis's (sp?) Frankenstein GC run. That thing is EVIL! Also, very good driving from all the i-club guys out there. I'd say it was a pretty good day, save for the unusual amount of n00bs out there attempting to work the field. I'm not sure how many cones/DNFs weren't called in, which may/may not have affected the times of those who ran in heat 4.

All in all, a good day.

ps. All you guys HAVE TO RUN (Including our few Forester members. You guys have no idea what our cars can do )! You have so much potential hidden in your cars just waiting to be tapped. Not only is it choke fun, but it enhances your knowledge of your car and your driving abilities.

It was a pretty fun day, although I was a cone killin' champ in the morning driving the Legacy. Very atypical for me, I ended up with 10 cones over the 4 runs, and I think they missed a couple on my first run (called 2, but I think I hit more than that). I'm not sure why I had so much trouble, I just wasn't "on" today.

As soon as I was done in the 2nd heat in the Legacy, I registered to run the Mustang in the afternoon, threw my stuff in the car, ran home, and tried to figure out why the Mustang wouldn't start. I had just finished installing a new Crane ignition yesterday but the damn thing wouldn't fire. I had pretty much given up, and was just fiddling around, pulled back some wire loom to look at some wiring and found a wire had pulled out of one of the butt splice connectors. Re-spliced that baby, cranked her over - WHOOmah!!!! Transferred the helmet bag from the Legacy to the Mustang, and zipped back over to the track. I didn't get there until about 1:45, but saw people were still walking the track, so I was good to go. Ended up running a 75.848 on my 3rd run, which was better than I had done in the Legacy (well, including the cones - my best raw time was a high 72 in the Legacy). Got to do a nice smoke show on my 2nd run as I spun near the entrance gate. Stalled at the line on my last run , so did another smoke show there once I got it started again.

And despite being outside allllll day, this fair-skinned freak managed to escape without much sunburn, except for a 1 sq. in. patch on my right forehead. Not sure how I managed to only burn there, but whatevah!

Today sucked. It just wasn't my day. Only ran in the 76.XX. Got DNF'd on my 1st run, which is FULL OF CRAP! I ran the same on all other runs and didn't get a DNF'd. Also had my harness pop off, so I stopped for safety reasons, but wasted that run. CRAP! Should've brought my MR2.

Pat- It was much fun watching you run that Mustang. We (Josh, Randy, Chris, Sue Ann) were watching from by the cross-over and observed what a torque monster looks like coming out of corners . I'm pretty impressed how that thing was managed through the tight stuff.

ps. "Choke" = local for "very very very much"

Larry- I don't even know how many people DNF'ed their first runs. I DNFed mine, as well as my last (which I believe may have been my best official run ). I was pretty pissed on my last run where a DNF was called and nobody could tell me how/where it occurred.

You guys should have stayed for the fun runs. There was a slight overcast and a few of us made better runs then. Too bad they're not recorded.

See you all next month!
