That's a really great price. 1/2 as much as some others are charging for a reflash, and it's from COBB....

I read another thread somewhere that said Cobb also offers OEM ECUs for $450. Having a second ECU eliminates the worries about smog inspection for those states like CA. Right now, I'm waiting for a price quote from another vendor for an OEM ECU for my rex.

There is also something new from EcuTek, although I would do more research because of the pricing issues.

someone brought that up a week or so ago, .... seems to be much disagreement if that is even worth the money, or buying at all.

Wanted to try

Great price, but too bad they don't have a map for my FMIC, unifilter, and turbo.

Mario,

No one that I know of is using Cobb's specific remap. You know that Tim and I think maybe Richie are using the Vishnu which, in concept, is no different (I'd imagine) but the actual map could more than likely be radically different.

Cobb's got a forum. I'd think there'd be some very good information in there.

As far as the FMIC, I'd be surprised if they couldn't make a map for it. Again, I have no idea but the answer would be a phone call away.

You can run a UTEC or Xede or what ever you want on top of a reflash. That way you get a good known base map to work with then you only have to make simple offsets to the <insert your piggyback here>

If what works? Are you doubting Cobb and their capabilites?

Believe me when I say that Cobb has been tweaking subaru's before you were an itch in your daddy's pants.

Well that is a bit of an exaggeration, but Cobb is a good company(albeit overpriced in most respects) a good company nonetheless.

Mario,

I'll be honest, I don't know much about having a reflashed ECU and the UTEC. It would seem to me that it would smooth out the low end (driving around town) and potentially up top (at the strip), there might be less 'fighting' going on between the ECU and the UTEC.

That's nothing more than an 'off-the-cuff' assumption.

I would guess that there's some merit to doing it (but like you said, it would be very cost intensive). You might want to look through some of the posts on WRXhackers.

Mitch, no one's talking about how good a company Cobb is. The issue is their reflash. When other companies' reflashes are twice the price that Cobb is advertising, it would definitely put a question mark in one's head.

Edit: especially when they're offering up to 300hp on 91 octane. Hmmm. I'm not saying the question mark is one of doubt. Just saying that my curiousity is certainly piqued.

Called Cobb again; Cobb said that they can reflash my ecu if I send them my unifilter and turbo.
