I'm
not swapping my block without modifying my heads or going with large port V7/V8/V9 heads (and maybe cams). Problem is, by the time you buy a built block and good heads, you can have a JDM STI longblock. For me that's a tough decision.

My plans for now
To just put this short block in w/ my WRX heads for now then later on when i have more cash upgrade internals. But for now i'm going to just slap this puppy in. Since my car right now is barely running i really just want my car running. the block has 80,000 miles pistons look pretty good, but i won't know about the rest of the internals til after i take the 2 halves apart so i can clean it up some. i'll take pics once i get stared on all this.
Nate i still have your number so i'll call you when i get started just gotta pick up some of the essentials first. Thanks for the replies guys i'll let you know when i get started if you wanna help out any.

Haha! Ed, I found the thread you were talking about.
Wazzzup, guys! Just returned from another convoy and I'm covered with dust. Ed is sleeping and I just missed the midnight chow, so I'm at the TOC taxing guys for snacks.
Mario, the stock ej22t has a heavier rotating assembly compared to the 2.0 and 2.5. The case is stout, but I wouldn't put a stock 2.2t and expect more from it (other than the added torque) then I would a 2.0. You have a golden opportunity to build on strong block.
CP pistons and rings are cheaper then they were a year ago. I remember buying mine for about $600 for pistons and pins alone, but I've seen them in the low $400's and CP rings for $80. The price for Pauter rods are actually rising, but I've done a search on Yahoo and found a set under $700. There are rods for much less and also, lighter than Pauter (they're heavier than most aftermarket rods, but they're hell of strong if not the strongest for Subarus).
Unless you plan on boosting heavy, I'd settle for CP pistons and rings, Crawford or Cobb treated bearings, and lightweight DPR pistons. Also, if you feel that the closed deck design might run hotter, Earl's (as in Earls fuel lines) has a 32 or 34 row oil cooler for under $200. I've seen some of the oil coolers for Subarus and I think that a handfull are over priced and don't have enough rows.
Good Luck!

San, you can't lose on the V8 RA spec C longblock. I swear I've seen a few vendors sell them for a little more than the USDM STi longblock. Just buy the ecu and harness and do your electrical magic thingy you do. I'm more than confident that you could do it.
