APS vs RSR
ait, what is the preference in manufacturer: APS or RSR? for exhaust applications. it seems that for TBE the prices are similar, with the APS being slightly more expensive (but they have a 3.5"!!!). im after both power and sound....but mostly power.

Can't go wrong with either...
I have several friends with the RS*R tbe and I have the APS...both are going to put out comparable numbers...RS*R sounds a bit deeper than the APS.
People always say the 3.5" is overkill...but that's all relative...if you are looking for big HP numbers in the future and will be upgrading to a bigger turbo etc...go APS..
Tuners seem to like the APS because it is easily tuned with your other mods...
Realize though, unless you get a cel fix, these two will definitely throw CEL's...I have an AP and I have to reset my CEL once every two weeks or so...
Check out Drevis's car for the RS*R, (Sherri)WRX_Chick...both have the tbe...sounds mean. As for the APS, you can check out Roel's WRB STI (he has the stock exhaust manifold) or mine with a GTSPEC II header combination).
Different sounds, looks but same results...

If
you care about noise, the RSR is louder. The RSR is as loud at idle as the APS 3.5" is at 3000 rpm (check Unabombers sticky on NASIOC for exhaust levels). If you care about weight, the APS is heavy, super heavy. The RSR is about as light as you can get without going titanium. Choose your poison.

I
hate exhaust manufacturers that use "ti" in the name of an exhaust when the only thing ti is the tip or the can. Why bother? I wish someone would make a ti tbe that was really ti. I'd buy one. But I could care less about a bluish tip.

ok so RSR is super lite and super loud...
APS is super heavy and super quiet (relatively), but will take future power better....is that what im hearin? wow thats tough....the noise is ok, but that weight.....not sure i like that. im thinkin that the APS is so quiet BECAUSE its so heavy..not as much cavitation and vibration. san what you think?

As for weight...this thing is quality built, fits better than stock...maybe a bit heavy but it's not like a boat anchor or anything...probably a matter of 5-10lbs...difference from the RS*R...haven't compared actual weights but even if you get a 100% titanium cat-back...there is not going to be a 30lb or 40lb weight difference...

I
will repeat myself, as some here didn't hear me the first time. The APS is heavy. We ain't talking 5-10 lbs more, we're talking very heavy. The Blitz Nur-Spec is heavy, the APS is a different animal altogether. Think of the APS as the girl someone tried to set you up with that had a wonderfull personality (she's really heavy). She may last forever, and take lots of horsepower, but she's always going to be heavy. One more time for the hearing-impaired, the RSR at idle is as loud as the APS at 3000 rpm. I for one think the RSR is too loud, and don't like the sound of it with the silencer. Most of us don't have enough horsepower for a 2.5" exhaust to be the limiting factor, let alone a 3" exhaust. APS has a full 3.5" exhaust for those of us that think another 1/2 inch will matter. Unless you're running a huge turbo or are in the **** industry, it probably doesn't make a difference.

Oh by the way when my exhaust came in it weighed in at a hefty 59lbs when it got delivered to me! I'm not sure about the RSR one. That was with the iron DP also inside the box. I like my TBE just fine hope that helped!

I
was not even considering anything but a titanium catback exhaust until I checked out the RSR at Vakamon and could honestly not justify the higher cost of titanium. The RSR is light. I've had the Tanabe Racing Medallion which was ok weightwise, but not 3". I had the Blitz Nur-Spec which is a good exhaust, but heavy, and now the RSR. I asked persons in the know about the APS but once I was told how heavy it was, I looked elsewhere. The only downside to the RSR is the loudness. It's too loud IMHO. Of course I'm old and trying to avoid cops hassling me.

Just to let you know, there are two versions offered by RSR. As for my own tastes, I'm not too fond of the canister type of exhaust. So I went with the EX-MAG II. It has an oval canister with a polished tip, same sized piping as the other version, but it has a dark aluminized coating over the stainless steel. So all you see from the rear is the polished tip-much like stock. But man do I love the sound, it is not as loud as the other RSR, very quiet at idle. But when you roll on it, it has a nice roar to it. The only thing I wish it had was better ground clearance. I do like the way the tip exits straight out, while the other version angles out towards the driver side-rear. Just my humble opinion.

ya i know this is a thread about rsr and aps but when i bought my exhaust i did alot of research and found that the HKS is one of the best one i have it know and i like the sound its not loud when your at idle or when your cruising but when you open it up it sounds like what friend likes to call an old WWII bomber plane and it sound alot more tune dthen the other exhuast not mention that HKS has been around for a really longtime and they know there turbo's and whats good for it so HKS is my suggestion
