Hey guys, I'm thinking of picking up some gearing. Any suggestions on the ratios? This is for SCCA SOLO II. I'm looking to put in a taller first and shorter 2nd. Have any of you upgraded your gears yet? I'd love to get some feedback.

the 5-speed RA gearset, but don't think anyone here on the island knows Subarus well enough. I asked sub-sonic (Ed) about it ages ago. There is some talk that it's the flex from our tranny cases that is causing the problems.

Yes as San says the STi RA gearing is superb for racing and auto-x. Ralli spec cliams that getting the whole box is slightly stronger then then the US tranny. But buying just the gears is also stronger as well since they have em cryo treated, and 'supposedly' the metallurgy of the gears is better then the US counter parts.

If you dont go that route, one step above that is the gears from gimmie gears. A little pricey though Or go to a dog box with custom ratios....

 

As has been implied - I don't know who on the island would get my money (if I had any!) to do the gear install...
