Anyone with an Outback key want to help me out?
Just wondering if anyone knows anyone with a '10 outback using this key:
- i'd want to ask a favor and see if the clicker portion of the keyfob can be programmed to my '11 sti... the method's documented online, similar to an up/down/up/down/left/right/left/right/select/start/A type of thing. we can re-program it back to your outback first to confirm it works and any mistakes = me paying for key programming. so how bout it!?
(i just want to try this out before buying a key and not being able to use it except as a valet key...)

Ran across this on 3gwrx. Guy tried to do it. Basically it doesn't work.

SINGLE KEY w/Buttons (w/o Teardrop) - HALF FAILED

I'm glad I decided not to go that route - i had a feeling after reading up different sources online that the keyless clicker's frequency/channel may be different (the transponder was the least of my worries)
well... on to the next project...

'10 legacy key is the same as the outback? (or it failed programming the same way?)
I'm really curious to see if the clicker portion can be taught, especially seeing that the other systems (outback/leg/impreza) seem to be different; would be worth a shot since programming can be done on your own w/o cost or dealer.. if the legacy key can be taught to the impreza...that would be awesome

I looked at that a while ago, the wife had a mazda before this, and it had the all in 1 remote/switchblade key type.
A guy on iwsti tried to do it, never really found out if he was successful or not really.

good luck.

(here's my thread, no diy, just pics anyway) http://www.gsxr.com/showthread.php?t=42356
...i'd rather go keyless... if my car is keyless, my last key ever would be for my mailbox (which i rarely check and never carry the key anyway)

Possible solution (Subaru All-In-One key fob)
1. Subaru 4-button folding remote key casing - 2.Car Remotes and Transponder Keys > 1).Car Remote keys, Transponder Keys and Key Shell,Rubber > (9).Subaru > 4.Modified folding remote keys Shell
2. Subaru original 4-button folding remote key casing - 2.Car Remotes and Transponder Keys > 1).Car Remote keys, Transponder Keys and Key Shell,Rubber > (9).Subaru > 1.Key Covers
With these you take apart your remote, put everything inside this one, then cut the key. Not sure what to do about the transponder though.

^^ Those are some of the better looking one's ive seen - there's always this soln from amazon, but it's butt ugly imo...
Amazon.com: 2006 06 Subaru Legacy The Switchblade: Key & Remote Combo: Automotive
ive got a unmarked flip key housing headed my way; will do a writeup; its super similar to the iwsti thread posted earlier. I'm planning to hack up my key anyway for my hush hush alarm installation, so might as well give this a shot haha
