Anyone into old Toyotas?

I have an older Celica coupe I have had for 6 years and I think it's time to consider selling it. Just wondering if anyone knows anywhere good to advertise it or maybe someone to talk to since I have no clue what to ask. I have done lots of things to it over the years and it's gonna be wicked hard to part with it, but we'll see. I really need to get a truck... Anyways if anyone is down with the old Toys, drop me a line.

Thanks either way.

Wombat,

Craigslist.org available for you? I see alot of older Toyota's there. I am considering selling my AE86 and there are a whole bunch there. It will be either that or my Subaru. I really do not want to sell either and I am trying to hang on.

1980 Celica ST Coupe, 121k original miles

Thanks for the info! I love peanuts.. Two of my best friends in school (on the Big Island) had a 73 and a 74. I had a '73 Celica ST. My current one is an '80 that I got from the original owner. I really wanted another '71-'74 but this car was so nice. I've had it since 7/99 and been on Laguna Seca, Sears and Thunderhill with it. The last time at Thunderhill there were 3 STi's that were holding me up, and a friend in a 450whp LS6 powered trans am couldn't catch me.

Here's some pics from another site:

http://www.classic-celica.com/module...view_album.php

The most recent thing I did to the car was to make this weird intake. It started out as a 'cold air' intake and for now it's a 'coldER air intake' since the filter is still under the hood. At least it's not breathing the hottest air under the hood tho!!

The main things it's had in the last 50k miles are the rear end swap which includes rear disks, LSD 3.91:1 Toyota F series rear end. The housing came from an '80 Supra. I did everything with new Toyota parts which was expensive. It's also got brand new rotors and pads (Portfield R4-S) front and rear and new rear calipers. The SS brake lines are also new, but the rest of the brake system was replaced in '99 when I got the car (fr calipers, master cyl, etc). New tires last month too (Falken ZIEX 512). I have done so many things to the car and replaced so many little things and pieces of rubber it's not funny.

Here's a list I copied from somewhere else... There are things that I forgot to list too, but ah well. The car only gets Castrol GTX 30wt oil, and OEM Toyota parts. Anyway, it's an awesome little car and if I sell it, I will miss it forever. It's never let me down, and made me smile for years. The engine has never, since I have known the car, taken more than a crank to start.

I had an 83 Celica GT...

I really liked the 83 and 84 Celica styling...kind of boxy but smooth...had a nice 2.4l that had some guts...and rear wheel drive! I really liked the GTS models in these years...the fender flairs, seats all made for a mean looking ride...

Anyhow, it didn't work too well in Alaska during the winters...miss it though...

Damn, I love old school Toyotas. If I had more money I'd buy an early 70s Corolla or a Hilux truck.

I know these dudes, Blaine and Mikaele.

Back a while ago, my pops came across an old '83 Datsun Pickup Truck with 34,000 miles. (!!)

We were going to work on it, as we got the truck free from an old man that had it sitting for years in his garage and didn't want it anymore.. but after severe tar/gunk complications from the gas tank clogged all the fuel lines, it began to get a bit time consuming; so we just let it go. To another guy.

Those older RWD Corollas are pretty mean. I forget what type of suspension they use, but DAMN sometimes I see some fatty traction bars on the bottom of em.

Yup.. Old Japanese cars are so classic. It really bums me out that they are so hard to find and really dying. 510's, 240Z's, Celicas, Rollas, and one of my all time faves - the old Rotaries like RX3's and stuff. I have been driving my Celica every day, and dunno if I can really sell it but if I do, I will miss it like crazy. There's nothing like the spirit of these cars. It's like a mini old muscle car. Funny cuz every time I start it up, it sets off the alarm on my Suby...
