Dude, you'll be making some bucks when you got out... but you have to get certified first... those CCNC... or whatever are big $$$ jobs...

i'm CCNA (there's CCNP and CCIE on top of that).

there are simulations you can play with to boot up, pwd recover, etc. the router. of course, get the Cisco CCNA books. it's really quite easy....at least until you get to the CCIE level. :gulp:

The real question I have is once you get your cert (say CCNA to start with), how hard is it to land a decent paying job here in Hawaii?

the pay is nowhere what it used to be. believe it or not, i took a course @ mission college here in the bay area to get my CCNA...it cost $2k. after i got the certification, i left the industry altogether. luckily, i got the CCNA only for fun/curiosity since my old company paid for it.

CCIE used to make $$$! with just a CCNA, you'll be competing with a lot of newcomers in the industry. that's when experience counts. goodluck.

I think I have a copy of the router sim program laying around somewhere. PM me if you're interested and I'll try to find it.
