Vandersteens are excellent speakers, and depending on the model they might not break the bank. i've got 2CEs in my living room, along with Vandersteen monitors for the rear channel of my home theater system. even the Vandersteen 1s are better than most any other speaker i've listened too.

look into paradigm speakers....they are entry level HI-FI at affordable prices...... I know they have a set for $2000 that won 2nd place in a worlwide speaker contest,......only to lose to an $80,000 speaker set...... so you save $78,000 and have insanely clean sound...
BTW I have Paradigm monitor 5's with yamaha amps..... and Paradigm 10' ported sub....and LOVE MY STEREO TO death.....
OH, here is the site... http://www.paradigm.com

I can see why you love your system...nice setup. I've got the B&W DM630's powered by either my surround setup (Marantz SR-18) or my Adcom preamp/tuner and Acurus amp. I have the NHT SUB-Two Sub (2-10" drivers powered by an internal 500w amp). When surround kicks in it goes through a NHT Center and Super One rears. God, I love this stuff!

Everyone who recommended
speakers has a preference. You really need to listen to various brands and decide what YOU prefer. Don't buy speakers because someone else decided they were "the best". If you can't hear the difference, don't pay the difference.

Stay away from mainstream brands. That is the best advice someone can give you.
B&W, Sound Dynamics RTS-3's, and PSB Alpha's are reasonably priced and sound excellent. And these are only the bookshelf models.
But no matter how good they sound, placement is everything!
Then there is the matter of cables, amp, preamp, speaker wire, D/A convertor.... the list goes on. Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much on this stuff for such minute gains
