It would be awesome to go biking with some fellow subie owners. I haven't been biking in a while, but would love to start up again. Let's set up a place/date.

EDIT: My bad. Wrong forum. I didn't pay attention to where this forum is. Hawaii is a bit far from Oakland.

Anyone know from experience which bike trails are easy for the wife and me to ride?
I did the Aiea loop one and it wasnt like it was described,.. or it was a wrong path as I encountered a lot of roots and unrideable path once I got into it.

Just looking to do some hiking for fun/recreation for the wife and I to start as Diamond Head is pretty much all Ive done. Was thinking of doing the Koko Head or the 1000 step one up by the Park. Will try to go high up as we can go,..we are terribly out of shape.. lol!

kevin, the aiea loop trail gets pretty muddy in some areas and has some really narrow trails and tree logs blocking the trail. for a hike, it's pretty easy, but for a mtb trail, it gets a little challenging.

as for hiking, other than the touristy diamond head and makapuu, we have hundreds of beautiful listed and unlisted trails in this island alone. koko head is a stairmaster climb and hot. but a lot of these trails are very family friendly and fairly safe for the whole family. for a start, here's a link that lists the trails and tells you if its a novice, intermediate or advanced hike. again, this is not a complete listing, but it's a great way for you to start hiking.

Thanks for the link,..
Other google searches were not accurate to what I remember the trail to be like.
I needed a personal opinion on trails.

Kokohead isnt a joke, if you are out of shape, prepare to be in pain for a few days after.

Makapu'u lighthouse is an easy hike.

Maunawili Falls is easy and fun. And if you have the ***** of at least a teenage girl, there's a 30 foot ledge that you can jump from. I once saw a guy do a perfect tuck backflip to flat 360 backflip off of this. Best clif jump that I have ever seen.

The fire road at Royal Summit is a pretty easybike ride, I have taken girls up there to ride.

If you feel a little crazy one day, you can come hit the kaleheo jumps with us. haha.
This was me last night.

I can't believe I was even up early enough to be there.

I was drinking till after 4am....heavily.

I did fine on the dh part, but then I was passing a guy and had to go way off the trail down a hill to keep from hitting him. So I was like fu(k it, I lost all my desire to try to be competitive then and there. The climb at the end was kicking my ***. I just got off and walked for a couple of minutes. haha
