I don't think anyone mentioned taking up surfing, although I know it goes without saying.
Just to be official... "SURF!"

the wife and i love sushi. she likes to get the Genki on Kapahulu, whereas i like the shave ice place down the block(Waiola Shave Ice?)

but right now she and i are craving the chicken long rice and poi. i could eat that all day long...mmm, with some haupia pie afterwards...i'm such a pig...

i definitely wanna learn to surf. any suggestions of any places that offer lessons?(other than the guys in Waikiki) i've been skateboarding for most of my life, just tried snowboarding, but now wanna get my sea legs.

Lessons are gonna cost a lot, better you have a friend teach you. Sorry, I'm not surfer, I body board. genki's on Kapahulu is good, I got a friend named Amy who works there, used to hook me up everyday after work with the good sushi. If you like sushi, you can also try Catch of the Day sushi in Pearl City and by the University (I forget the name of the shopping center w/Foodland, and blockbuster....University Square?). Waiola shave ice rocks! i've never had fluffier shave ice before...IMO, it beats Matsumotos.

Oh, and if you've got the money...or if it's your birthday, check out Todai in Waikiki. It's a sushi buffet plus other stuff too.

This may be out of topic.... but can someone make this to a sticky??

I'm not in Hawaii, but would love to move there someday, so i'm always looking for suggestions on moving there.

I was there a month ago and I can't wait to go back next March. I'm currently looking for a job, anyone work for a civil engineering firm??

Well, I grew up in Ewa Beach. I can't help but love it. Only thing is,....almost everything that matters is in town (waikiki side). I had to drive from Ewa Beach to UH everyday for school. Not a cool way to rack up mileage. Now I live in Kapolei...even further from town. *shrugs*

the wife wants to move into Waikiki but i wouldn't mind something less touristy. Right now i live in Chinatown, and the weekends here is like a zoo. Do all the tourists get to you sometimes?

I guess if all you see are tourists, you may not even feel like you're in Hawaii....more like Tokyo....or in your case, China. The thing about downtown is that you'll find a LOT of asians (not that I have anything against them)...not quite the local type.
