Air Blue Windshield Heat Blocker
Wife & I checked out the First Hawaiian Auto Show yesterday & passed by the T&T booth out front. Talked to Tommy after noticing that they have a new tint for front windshields. He told me that it's a ceramic film and that it blocks out the heat & UV rays just like the regular ceramic tint. The film is virtually clear so, it's 50 state legal. Now I know what my next investment is gonna be. I'm tired of my arms getting burnt whenever I'm stuck in traffic & the sun is roasting me through my windshield.

For some reason I thought that automotive glass already blocks a good % of UV rays because of the way they make it shatter proof... I recall reading that you cannot get sunburnt through auto glass, but it will still heat up the inside of the car.

Just because it's coated to be shatter proof, doesn't mean that the film blocks UV rays. While I'm in my van or my Suby, I can still feel the heat through the windshield and it gets pretty hot @ times. To the point where I have to put my arms in front of the a/c duct to cool myself down. Just look at how the sun affects peoples interiors that don't have any tint on their windows. This new film that they're using blocks 99.9% of the UV rays and reduces the heat transferred through the glass by 43%. I've got ceramic tint on both my rides and believe me, they make a huge difference. To get it done on the windshield without worrying about the tint laws here would be great.

I also swung by the T&T booth..
I think the VLT for that Air Blue Film is 73%. Supposedly legal huh..
Just a fyi, Solar Gard has their Ultra Performance line which is a nano ceramic film. I think 75% VLT. I'd really like to see some cars tinted with the Llumar film tho, the color is a bit more neutral.
You might be able to get the Solar Gard for cheaper. T&T was always kinda expensive.
Really cool idea though.
Check these out - if these were legal, I would shell out the cash for them in a hurry.
PPG High Kroma Windshields. Blue on the outside, but anti-glare yellow from the inside.

Whoever makes it, +1 for ceramic tints. Expensive, but do a great job blocking heat. I know of a couple Dubbers that used 5% tint for the windshield to block heat...less wear and tear on the dase that way...
<- has Huper Optic tint from HI days...
The only downside is that once they ARE hot, it takes longer to cool them for the same reasons....sart in the shade and end in the shade and everything's groovy though!

Heat protection would be cool though.

The 3M one I mention earlier also takes away a lot of glare from the sun...I wonder if this product does the same.
My only concern would be that the front windows get replaced a lot more often then the sides so you'd have to buy it with the understanding that you may have to replace it due to windshield cracks or the little pits that form over time. If I were to do this I'd get a whole new windshield to put it on first as mine is all pitted.
