Aftermarket airfilter
I am looking at getting an aftermarket replacement for the stock airfilter. I have been researching the different brands, Blitz, HKS, Greddy and K&N.
I am thinking of getting the Blitz airfilter.
Anyone have any suggestions, opinions on any of the brands?

Stock?
The stock air box and filter flows air pretty well. Some tuners (Shiv in paticular) haven't seen much of a hp increase with drop in filters.
If you do go with K&N and others which are oiled you'll want to make sure there is no excess oil on the filter. If you have too much oil it can get on the MAF sensor and screw up readings..
I had a K&N in my WRX Wagon until I went to ECUTEK at which point they recommended I take it out to match up with their tuning.
My 2 cents..

My car didn't experience ANY gains from switching from a stock air filter to stock minus resonator to K&N air filter. If you're ready to replace (mileage/condition) you might want to switch to a re-usable filter (to save money later on). If you're looking for power - I agree with Tim - best to leave the stocker in there. My 15k mile stocker flowed well enough to gimp this old man to a 12.7 @ 105+...

I know everybody here is gonna tell you to leave the stocker in there, but I run a Blitz LM with no problems. I think it all boils down to Engine Management: If you got it, run the stocker; if you don't, a short ram intake'll do you good. I run 14.2's with intake, up-pipe and a frankenstiner catted DP.

They also don't seem to increase horsepower at all...

Very true. I was thinking more about airfilters and intakes for a fmic. I totally forgot how unnecessary intakes were when there is no actual purpose of removing the stock airbox.
