Accelerometers - your personal experiences...
1st off- yes i know the debates of accuracy-
2nd- i scored a 1st gen gtech pro for free.
my friend has this one
so my question is this- to those who own/or have used them before-
i have run mine like the instructions said- run 5 drop the bottom 2 and average the top three. it seems like its very picky- even if i am on level surfaces. just exactly how many runs do you really do?
i do like the features of the newer ones that have multiple lateral gsensors (good for you auto-cross guys)
my philosophy is this- without a dyno i'd like some way to gauge if my money spent is worth the time and effort- i like the fact that having this helps me gauge improvements done- if any at all. i mean up until now we basically buy products based on "testimonials" and not actual data from our own car/experiences.
so i'd like to hear some discussion on your opinions of em- along with personal experiences - *cough*joel*cough*

From: Ewa Beach, Hawaii...Current Best Time: 12.59 @ 107.48mph (108.47 best mph) in Hawaiis humid weather! w/ stock turbo&intercooler
Car Info: 2004 STi.....stock turbo/intercooler/cat-back, aftermarket intake/downpipe/piggyback
*cough* ahem.... okay. I too had the first generation G-tech pro, it was pretty good for its time but is no match for the accuracy, features of todays G-tech Pro. The old one gives you the peak HP - a rough figure, while todays technology provides you with a road dyno graph plotted along with your RPM. Its no comparison - just check out their website for more info.... My car showed 205 WHP @5400 RPM stock, I registered around 280ish WHP @ 5500 rpm after some mods.

I've only played with the GTech pro comp 2001 and the Delta Dash. The DD isn't very reliable. I think that the Gtech is.
I believe that you really have to go to lengths to calibrate it right. I've been able to reproduce over and over again the same results. I think that it's accurate but by that I mean that (I don't remember exactly) you have to remember the trap is about a mile or two two fast.
