Yeah, like everyone said if it's only at start up you shouldn't worry. If it happens after it's been running for a while you might be having blow-by issues (possibly deteriorating piston rings if it happens when your not at WOT when it happens) or even worse your head gasket might be going. If you could provide what your throttle position is when it happens, how many miles are on the car and any other info we could probably narrow it down pretty well.

update: i took off the ic and took out the y pipe and turbo hose and boy did i find some oil in there specially in the red hose to the turbo(sti ic) and it had oil build up and so i just cleaned it with wet cloth and at the same time i replaced the pcv valve, which is located underneath the throttle(sp)...there is still smoke(way less than before) and when it does smoke a little, that oil smell is gone...that's why im looking for a oil catch can now to make the engine run cleaner from all that "blow by/excess oil"...I SUGGEST those who have upgraded turbos or just stock turbo who doesn't have an oil catch, to check his/hers regularly...

good to hear you found the problem rudy. i got a brand new catchcan for 60 bucks if anyone wants to buy it. looks like the original boxy greddy one, but heavier(not alum i think), comes with everything incl hoses.

not that it matters much, but if the helix one is alum, then mine is heavier, but if it is not alum, then they are probably the same weight.

i don't know im not too sure, i don't think so, just clean them pipes anyway...i don't think that there's much residue there compared with the hoses/pipes....
